State Laws Regarding

Conservation's
Division of Mines and
Geology
The California Geological Survey and
the California Division of Mines and
Geology (as cited in various codes)
are one in the same. It's not
uncommon for agencies to adopt
shorter, more descriptive trade
names. For example, the California
Department of Transportation is more
commonly known as "Caltrans." In
January 2002, CGS first began using
its current moniker.
