California Gold Mines
A Sesquicentennial Photograph Collection
In
1998, CGS selected, scanned, and
researched 300 black and white
photographs of California gold mines
from our photograph collection. The
photographs on the CD-ROM date from 1852
to 1984. Photograph subjects include
gold mines, miners, mining techniques
and equipment. Users may easily search
by mine name, county, photographer,
subject and year, or by clicking on a
map of California counties. Other
features include, a "slide show," an
article on California Gold Discovery, a
California historic gold mines map,
printing capability, and a glossary of
mining terms.
