M6.5 San Simeon Earthquake on December 22, 2003

A magnitude 6.5 earthquake occurred at 19:15:56 (UTC) on Monday, December 22, 2003 in the area of San Simeon, California. The hypocentral depth was estimated to be 8 km (5 miles). The earthquake resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to at least 40 people in the Paso Robles-Templeton area. At least 40 buildings collapsed. The earthquake was felt throughout much of Central California. The CISN Internet Data Report (IDR) lists peak accelerations and distances for the stations recovered by the CGS/CSMIP and the USGS/NSMP and UC-Berkeley programs of CISN.
