Bond Funding

DLRP has been the recipient of funds from three statewide Bond measures approved by the voters.  These funds enhance the Division's ability to meet its mandate to provide information to guide land use planning decisions and incentives to landowners to voluntarily protect California's farmland and open space.  Projects receiving Bond funding include:

• Proposition 12, California Parks Bond (2000)-- The California Farmland Conservancy Program received $25 million to fund grants for agricultural conservation easements and planning projects for the purpose of preserving important agricultural land resources.

• Proposition 13, California Water Bond (2000)-- The Farmland Mapping and Monitoring Program received a total of $2,500,000 to expand the project study area, conduct mapping enhancements, and accelerate completion of modern soil surveys.  

• Proposition 40, California Water/Air/Parks/Coastal Protection Bond (2002) -- The California Farmland Conservancy Program received a total of $37 million through fiscal year 2005-06 to fund grants for agricultural conservation easements and planning projects that result in acquisition of agricultural conservation easements. The 2006-07 Budget included $8.3 million for farmland conservation from Proposition 40.  Information about projects statewide that have been funded by Proposition 40 to date can be found at www.4050bonds.resources.ca.gov.
