DOGGR Announces New Assessment Rate

The Oil and Gas Assessment rate for fiscal year 2009-2010 is 8.80312 cents per barrel of oil or 10 Mcf of natural gas produced. This is an 11.3 percent increase from the previous year. The increase is due primarily to the implementation of recently passed legislation (AB 1960 - Nava) that gives the Division authority to regulate oilfield production facilities.

Division of Oil, Gas, And Geothermal Resources

The Division oversees the drilling, operation, maintenance, and plugging and abandonment of oil, natural gas, and geothermal wells. The regulatory program emphasizes the wise development of oil, natural gas, and geothermal resources in the state through sound engineering practices that protect the environment, prevent pollution, and ensure public safety.
